East & Eden: 4 bots, one community

East & Eden is a Discord community of Monopoly GO players who trade stickers. For it I built four bots that work together, each with its own job, and a web panel from which its owner controls everything without touching code.

The challenge «Make trading, taking part and winning prizes run on their own, and let the community tune it without needing a developer.»

I also made its promo video. It introduces the four bots with their real messages and cards.

What each bot does

StickerMomma

Trading stickers without typing

  • Each member marks the stickers they have and the ones they need with dropdown menus, no names to type.
  • When someone has what another member is looking for, the bot pings the right person.
  • Offers with their own number, confirmation from both sides and reputation between traders.

Spencer

Tickets that reach the team

  • Each kind of request opens its own private channel, with a form and a ping to the team.
  • Donations, giveaway prizes and shop purchases land here, even when another bot creates them.
  • Moderation and server logs.

Levels

Level up by taking part

  • Experience from messages, time in voice and reactions received.
  • Automatic roles by level and achievements with their own card.
  • The cards are edited from the panel, moving their pieces with the mouse.

Vaulty

Finding a partner for every event

  • A partner finder with reputation, time zone and how the event is split.
  • Giveaways with an entry button: the winner gets a ticket to claim the prize.
  • Pick-your-roles panels, invite tracking, suggestions and polls.

Jeff Pesos

An economy with two currencies

  • Points for chatting, time in voice, reactions and boosting the server, and diamonds to spend.
  • A shop where every purchase opens a ticket to deliver it.
  • A balance card that moves up a tier as you take part.

How it is built

  • 4 bots that talk

Each bot has its own job and they talk to each other: the winner of a giveaway in one bot gets a ticket in another.

  • Web panel with Discord login

Only authorised people get in. From there the bots are restarted, their logs are read and settings are changed.

  • Everything editable without code

Message texts, the shop, rewards, role panels and the design of the cards.

  • Cards drawn on the fly

Profile, welcome, level and achievement cards are drawn on the server with each member’s data.

  • discord.js and Node.js

The four bots share the same code base, each with its own database.

  • On its own server

They run on a VPS, each bot as a supervised process.

Does your community need something like this?

It can be one bot or several working together, with a panel so you are in control. Tell me what your community does and I will tell you what I would automate.
